Elizabeth A. Abramowitz, Ph.D.
Founder, President and CEO
Dr. Abramowitz founded ASIWorks, Inc. in 1997 to provide administrative support services. Dr. Abramowitz is responsible for overall executive direction and the mission for the company. Dr. Abramowitz owns 51% of ASIWorks, Inc.
Dr. Abramowitz served in The White House from 1977 - 1979 as Assistant Director of Education and Women’s Issues. Previously she held leadership positions in several organizations dedicated to education, mental health, and women’s equity, including Howard University, the Institute for the Study of Educational Policy, National Association of School Psychologists, the College Entrance Examination Board, and Washington, D.C. Public Schools. In 1979, she co-founded PSI Services, Inc., a national health and human services provider. Dr. Abramowitz is the author of scholarly works in human services. She earned her PhD in Educational Psychology from The Catholic University of America, and MA in Counseling Psychology and BA in Clinical Psychology from the University of California – Berkeley. Dr. Abramowitz has also completed postdoctoral studies in Applied Economics at The American University in Washington, D.C.
Michael E. Abramowitz, Esq.
General Counsel and Treasurer
Mr. Abramowitz is responsible for ASI legal services, financial direction, and corporate relationships. Mr. Abramowitz worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Planning and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Office of the Commissioner, before becoming an independent consultant and senior associate for private contractors. Mr. Abramowitz is the author of numerous articles on business, housing, equity, civil rights, arbitration and conflict resolution. He holds a JD from Howard University School of Law and a BA in Mathematics from Brown University in Rhode Island. He is admitted to practice by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Abramowitz owns 49% of ASIWorks, Inc.
Helen B. Dortch
Senior Vice President, Finance
Mrs. Dortch is responsible for the daily operation of the Accounting Department and contracts oversight. Mrs. Dortch brings nearly forty years of accounting and financial services experience to ASIWorks, Inc. Her areas of expertise are payments and billing systems, fiscal agent – fiscal intermediary services, and quality assurance. Before joining ASI, Mrs. Dortch worked for Fortune 500 companies in accounting services and for multi-state clinical services providers in mental health, social services and education. Mrs. Dortch holds a BS in Business Administration and has completed graduate studies in Accounting at the University of Maryland – College Park Campus.
Melvin B. Williams
Vice President, Human Resources
Mr. Williams is responsible for administration of human resources services and supervision of the Human Resources Department, including personnel recruitment, screening and training; employee benefits; compliance reporting and related human resources services. Mr. Williams is an expert in union negotiations, arbitration, EEO policies, investigation and resolution of employee grievances. Mr. Williams has over 30 years of senior human resources experience, including 20 years at Fortune 500 firms and 10 years at ASI. Mr. Williams holds a BS Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland – College Park Campus, as well as certification as a Human Resources Professional from the Society for Human Resources Management.
