ASIWorks, Inc. Wins 5 Year Contract with Missouri Division of Youth Services
March 5, 2008
In January 2008, ASIWorks, Inc. President Dr. Elizabeth Abramowitz signed a contract worth over $100,000 for payroll services for a statewide youth jobs training program. The Missouri Department of Social Services, Division of Youth Services Jobs Program gives youth in the Department a way to gain practical work experience. Youth are placed in jobs, where they learn how to succeed on a job. They receive real paychecks based on the number of hours worked every two weeks. The Department advertised for a payroll service to help with this program. ASIWorks won over the competition. The Department’s contract with ASIWorks, Inc. is subject to annual renewal through 2012.
ASI Project Team recognizes the importance of this project to the future of the youth under DYS’s care. Getting the youth their first paycheck was a real priority. When the contract was signed in January 2008, the ASI team, under the leadership of Suhas Pandit, Director of Payroll Services, had its own immediate challenges – completing the start up of a statewide program in less than four weeks and getting the first paycheck to the youth by the end of January 2008.
In less than four weeks after the award, the ASI Team created the bi-weekly electronic time sheets for the project, launched a secure website for DYS staff to complete the bi-weekly time sheets, linked the project website to the DYS website, created a DYS staff training program, trained the regional DYS staff statewide, entered all of the start up information into the accounting and security system, and created attractive project reports. At each step, the team leader Suhas Pandit worked very closely with DYS central management. By the end of the month, DYS was able to deposit the money to pay the youth into the special trust account ASIWorks, Inc. opened in Missouri. In addition, ASI was able to calculate and send the youth their January paychecks on time.
The ASI Team recognized the importance of getting those first paychecks to the youths on time. As the ASI Team saw it, the paycheck was proof to the youth that DYS and society valued them. According to Mr. Pandit, Project Team Coordinator, “Our internet-based payroll system made this rapid start-up possible. Our system is an efficient way for DYS to track the youth under their supervision. We have created special management reports that hopefully will free up staff to spend more time with the youth and less time on the paper chase”, Mr. Pandit added.
“We are especially pleased that the custom reports and the special electronic time sheets have been real hits with the DYS staff,” Mr. Pandit observes. He explained that DYS staff can go on line using their passwords to update the profiles of the youth in the program, approve the electronic time sheets, track information about every youth’s job placement, and track work hours. “Giving DYS staff this kind of efficiency is an important outcome for DYS and for the youth in the Jobs Program.” It is also why ASI works!
Extension Granted for Air Force Extended Child Care Subsidy Contract
January 1, 2008
The U.S. Air Force has granted a second extension to its contract with Administrative Services, Inc. (ASIWorks) for Extended Child Care subsidy services. This is the second of the four optional annual extensions allowed under the contract, which began in 2006.
The U.S. Air Force Extended Child Care program gives civilian and military parents the peace of mind that their emergency child care problems have been solved. ASIWorks contracts with and pays approved providers for in-home child care worldwide. “Thanks to the Internet and our proprietary web-based software, we are able to meet the Air Force’s rapid turnaround,” says Sherwood Walker, Senior Accountant and Project Manager. “The ASIWorks staff on this project agree,” adds Mr. Walker, “that it’s great to be able to help military parents with their child care emergencies so meeting their family obligations does not conflict with their military duty.”
“ASIWork’s contract renewal speaks to our ability to respond to the Air Force’s changing requirements and our ability to implement enhancements that make the program more effective,” adds Dr. Elizabeth Abramowitz, ASIWorks President and Founder.
ASIWorks has over twenty-five years of varied experience in managing large-scale child subsidy payment systems. “This is one of our strongest areas of expertise because it combines our knowledge of child care and automated accounting systems. We are optimistic that in 2008 we will add to our child care subsidy business,” continues Dr. Elizabeth Abramowitz.
ASIWorks, Inc. Awarded Contract for National Institute of Corrections
Administrative Services, Inc. (dba ASIWorks, Inc.) was selected for a contract with the U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons to provide voucher/payment processing services for the National Institute of Corrections (NIC). The contract, which was effective October 1, 2007, has a length of up to 5 years, if the four one-year options are exercised.
NIC’s mission is to help improve the correctional systems managed by state and local governmental agencies. To do this, NIC provides a large number and variety of technical assistance and training programs across the country. In selecting ASIWorks, NIC was seeking a qualified vendor to set up a comprehensive tracking system for all of the travel expenditures for these programs as well as to review, process and pay the approved expenditures on a timely bais. ASIWorks also is responsible for providing numerous monthly and year-end reports for NIC.
“This contract establishes a new relationship with the U.S. Department of Justice, which we are very pleased about,” said ASIWorks President Dr. Elizabeth Abramowitz. “We’ve been given a chance to show how our technology, experienced staff and well-honed operations can process a large volume of transactions -- quickly and at a good price for our customer. We hope this will be a long-term and expanding partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice.”
